6th District Council Members Graded ( by themselves)

http://www.kansascity.com/115/story/618633.html

The star asked the council members and the mayor to grade themselves.

Cathy Jolly: B
John Sharp: Incomplete because major issues, such as light rail, are unresolved.

Other than Sharp, every council member gave them self a B which is pretty weak.

Compare KC Schools on a map.

Here is a link to a website that compares schools shown visually on a map. According to their rankings there are some terrible schools in the 6th district.

On a scale of 0-5 there are plenty of 0's and 1's with Red Bridge Elementary showing the best as a 4 star.

Bannister TIF Plan in Full

Here is a link to the full Three Trails TIF plan. (It is a 794 page document so it will take awhile to download) I have not had a chance to read through it, but there are some breakdowns here and here. This is a huge development project in the 6th District and should bring plenty of jobs and get some people to spend money over here in the district.

Some Breakdowns:

Total Retail: 1,113,425 sqft
Total Office: 1,703,500 sqft
Total Hotel : 590 Guest rooms

6th District has the least amount of graffiti in the city.

According to the spreadsheet posted on the Mayor's Blog, out of 735 reported instances of graffiti to 3-1-1 from 1/1/2007 until today a mere 6 are from the 6th district. I have a hard time believing that only 6 pieces of graffiti are in our district. Are we not reporting them to 3-1-1 or are we really that clean?

KC Confidential Blog Suggests 6th District reps are MIA

This blog post from Kansas City Confidential suggests that Jolly and Sharp are not quite working very hard in their positions.

"While everyone is rightly attacking Jolly for her absences, John Sharp’s record isn’t much better."

This blogger is new to the Kansas City politics scene so I cannot claim to have the knowledge that others have on this issue. I expect our council members to be present to do their jobs we elected them to do.

Council Members Email Addresses

If you go to the council members pages on kcmo.org for Cathy Jolly and John Sharp you will see that the email addresses for the council members are not listed. For some reason, only the assistants emails are shown. Well if you want to get in touch with them directly their email addresses are listed below.

March 13th City Council Meetin

You can get the minutes from the city council meeting on March 13th here.

Cathy Jolly and John Sharp were both in attendance and voted on every issue in agreement with the majority. Actually every single issue was unanimous except issue 080229 - Appropriating $1,500,000.00 from the Unappropriated Fund Balance of the General Fund and transferring it into the Motor Fuel Tax Fund for snow and ice removal; and recognizing an emergency.

Cathy Jolly and John Sharp both voted for it while Russ Johnson (2nd District) voted against.

Stowers Institute Buys Land in the 6th

This article suggests that the Stowers Institue could be expanding to a 100 acre parcel of land on the north side of 87th street between 435 and 71 hwy.....which probably is in the 6th district.

KC Star Richards Gebaur Article

The Kansas City Star has an article about the opening of the Kansas City Southern Intermodal Hub.

Lots of people think this whole thing is a bad idea and somehow is the harbinger of a North American Union and other over the top ideas. It is in the 6th District and will likely provide lots of jobs. To me it seems like a great thing for the area. More links on the Smart Port
